If you live in Maryland and are thinking about becoming a medical marijuana patient, there are some things to know beforehand. Below we have put together a list of qualified ailments as well as a simple guide to becoming a new patient.
Qualified Ailments
Some qualified ailments include cachexia, anorexia, wasting syndrome, severe or chronic pain, severe nausea, seizures, severe or persistent muscle spasms, glaucoma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), or another chronic medical condition which is severe and for which other treatments have been ineffective.
Five Easy Steps
- Submit the online patient application at www.mmcc.maryland.gov
- Pay the $50 charge to complete the application.
- Wait for an email with approval from MMCC along with an issued ID number.
- Find a certified physician at www.mmcc.maryland.gov
- Obtain a written certification from a registered physician.
Visiting The Store
New patients who visit the store are asked to present a Maryland ID as well as the certification form the state registered with a doctor. From there, patients will fill out basic intake paperwork with contact information, medical history, and consumption guidelines. Next, patients will meet with a dispensary agent to discuss ailments and their goals with using cannabis. The patient and agent will work together to find the best products to fit any needs. It is important to note that a doctor will only give you a recommendation to use cannabis, it isnโt until you visit a dispensary that an agent will be able to help you find products that are best fit for you.
Many patients will have questions about how cannabis works for different ailments and the dispensary agent will be able to assist everyone individually and answer any questions. Check out this video to learn more about becoming a patient.
